Arch Grants Competition

The 2014 Arch Grants Global Business Plan Competition is now open!  Learn more and apply online at www.archgrants.org/2014.

2012 marked the inaugural year of our business plan competition.  It went pretty well — we awarded $750,000 cash to 15 startups, in addition to two $100,000 follow on grants, as well as plus pro bono support bringing the total around $1,000,000 awarded to startups in St. Louis!

It went so well that we awarded 20 grants in 2013 for a grand total of $1,000,000 in grant funding.

Our aim is always to make the process as simple and painless as possible.  Below you’ll find key details about the competition.

  • $50,000 in equity-free cash disbursed quarterly, over the course of a year
  • Pro-bono accounting, legal, and marketing services
  • Exceptional professional mentoring
  • Introduction to key business leaders
  • Access to venture capital and angel investment networks
  • Opportunity for one of two additional $100,000 grants

Still debating? A few more details might help you decide. Arch Grants is looking for disruptive ideas – doing something that hasn’t been done before or doing something in a radically new way. We seek to attract entrepreneurs who are already located in St. Louis OR are willing to relocate here. Basing your business in St. Louis is a prerequisite for receiving the grant and all of our current entrepreneurs are investing their time in making the St. Louis startup scene even stronger. Finally, we look for scalable businesses. We want to hear how you’re planning to expand your business to capture national or international sales while remaining headquartered in St. Louis.

Step 1: Complete the application form at www.archgrants.org/2014. Deadline: February 21st, 2014 at midnight CST.

Step 2: When you find out that you’ve reached the second round of the competition by March 10th, 2014, we’ll send you a link to the Second Round form. Here, we will be asking for more detailed information about you and your business. Deadline to complete the Second Round Form: March 17th, 2014.

Step 3: We will invite 50 – 60 companies to come to St. Louis to give their final pitch to a panel of expert judges. Winning entrepreneurs will be selected from this group to receive $50,000 grants and a bundle of free support services. Last year, 20 companies received an Arch Grant!  Companies will be notified of their final status on or before March 28th, 2014, and must accept or reject their spot at Finalist Weekend by April 1st, 2014. Finalist Weekend will be held on April 25th and 26th.

Step 4: We will announce our winners by June 1st, 2014 and invite them to begin our program July 1st, 2014 in St. Louis, Missouri. Arch Grants will help coordinate living and work space arrangements for all grantees.
