Marcus Howard, Ph.D.
Founder & CEO
Marcus Howard is a native of North St. Louis and a graduate of Metro Academic and Classical High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Ph.D. in Human Development from North Carolina State University. In 2020, he returned to St. Louis to found an innovative pharmacy startup dedicated to delivering convenient, personalized, and accurate pharmacy care to communities identified as pharmacy deserts. His company, COUNSELMEDS, combines the expertise of human pharmacists with AI-powered follow-ups to improve health outcomes for high-risk Missouri Medicaid beneficiaries. Marcus’s work has been widely recognized; he is a two-time Arch Grants grantee and has received honors including St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and Champions for Diversity & Inclusion, Business of the Year from the City of St. Louis, and the St. Louis American’s Excellence in Healthcare Award.
